November 2024 Newsletter

The first thing most departments do in the morning when they come in is check in their stock and customer orders. Efficiently receiving parts orders is a critical part of any dealership's day-to-day operations, and special-order labels play an important role in this process. Ensuring parts are accurately tracked and identified helps prevent delays, improves inventory accuracy, and keeps your customers happy.

With several manufacturers entertaining the idea and Volvo making the changes to their pick labels as a form of “Digitizing”, you will no longer have this customer and part number info right at your fingertips when checking in the order. Parts Wizard’s SOR labels can still provide you with this necessary information, minimizing any delays in this process.

Why Special-Order Labels Are Important

When parts arrive at your dealership, it can be challenging to identify which items are regular stock and which have been specially ordered for specific customers or vehicles. Special-order labels improve the process!

  1. 1. Increased Accuracy - Special order labels help clearly identify parts that have been ordered specifically for a customer or job, reducing the risk of them mistakenly going into stock inventory. By clearly tagging these items, you minimize errors and ensure that customers get the exact parts they need on time.

  2. 2. Customer Satisfaction - Nothing frustrates a customer more than unnecessary delays. These labels help your team stay organized and provide better service by ensuring that special parts are quickly identifiable.

  3. 3. Simplified Inventory Management - By marking special orders with our SOR labels, your team can better track these items from the moment they arrive until they’re out the door. This eliminates the need for printing these sheets out of the DMS or handwriting any label you may be using in your current process.

Scan Solutions Parts Wizard Program is offered in multiple packages such as Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. These packages are broken down to your budget and needs. If you are a customer who never moved towards a scanning system because all of this information was on the pick label, now may be a great time to entertain implementing one. Our scanners and SOR labels give you great confidence in managing inventory control.

Best Practices for Special Order Labels
To maximize the benefits, here are a few tips on integrating special order labels effectively:

  1. • Consistently Apply Labels: - Make it a standard practice to attach special order labels to any part ordered for a specific customer. This way, every team member knows exactly how to handle those parts.

  2. • Integration with Your DMS: Because of the integration with your DMS, Scan Solutions Parts Wizard will provide part-number information as well. Whether printing SOR labels or Part Number Labels, all part and bin information are available at all times. Applying these labels to your parts when scanning will help save tons of time when putting away stock.

  3. • Train Your Team: Educate staff on the importance of these labels and how they contribute to the overall efficiency of operations. A knowledgeable team will handle parts orders more efficiently and accurately.

  4. • Labeling Options: Scan Solutions offers 6 different color label options, rotating these colors per month helps you and your team know just how old a part is by looking at the color of the label.

Moving Forward
With technology constantly improving at all times, big manufacturers look to move all of this information online and have less paperwork. If your dealership is looking to enhance its parts management process, implementing a labeling system is an easy yet effective step. Special order labels are a small detail that can make a big difference in your workspace.
